The SSV came to as an idea early 2002. I had used other vaporizers before, all of which I thought needed improvement. The wand style seemed to be the best performer out there except that the thing just didn’t last long and the wand angle sucked. The heater was going out every few months and in the dry climate the box started falling apart. The thing worked great when it was working just didn’t last long for the price. And damn that angle it sucked. Finally the vision of the SSV came to me!
The vision of the Silver Surfer was perfect. Not only the vision but the name came all at once. I wanted a vaporizer that would last a long time, perform very well and be stylish. Well first I had to find the right heater. That was a long and time consuming process and after testing 9 different brand ceramic heaters, the finest was chosen. It was not the cheapest one available, but was the highest quality. After that I needed the glass pieces. Easy to draw and describe but no glass blower in town wanted to do the project. So I went out and bought a book called “contemporary lamp working”. An amazing book if you are interested in working with glass in any way. Then I got a torch, ventilation equipment, glass, gas, and oxygen. A few months later I was able to make some basic glass parts for the vaporizer. Now I think I am making some of the finest wands found any place. I had an idea of what to make the housing out of and it worked. The SSV has gone through many transformations through its growth. There used to be no acrylic base, and at one point it was straight up, but coming at an angle is just so pimp! Well the SSV was a final product in April 2004 and that’s when I started selling them the way they are now. They are all hand made! The glass knobs have really started turning out nice and make every unit different. All the knobs have a dial on them so you know where your position is. The original SSV used a ceramic heater in a metal tube in the glass cover, like the competition. Well if you have ever seen metal after it gets really hot it turns a different color. Well some kind of fume is coming off so I eliminated the metal tube. I had the idea since the beginning, but it was a customer who had the idea of how to keep the heater in place. Now the SSV is the first unit to offer a completely true glass on glass experience. I believe it is the best functioning vaporizer on the market.
I knew that the SSV could not stop there so it is forever advancing. The AromaTop came out in November 2004. I wanted a vaporizer that functioned to diffuse essential oil and vaporize. I mean, how good is an aromatherapy device if it can’t vaporize and diffuse essential oils? Other models do this and that is not new. What is new is the fact that you can vaporize and diffuse the SSV essential oils at the same time. The hands free attachment makes any SSV with its regular wand, a hands free unit. No need to have a different unit or wand. I realized you can not have an aromatherapy device and not sell essential oils. I did countless hours of research and found a very high quality supplier and invested in some oils. What is a vaporizer without a grinder? I then found a high quality grinder and had it customized for the SSV. I am confident that the Silver Surfer is the best vaporizer and oil diffuser in the world and I think my customers will agree!
